A Message from Patty
Stepping into the counseling process takes courage. With that in mind, I want to create a welcoming, compassionate, safe space to not only explore together the current issue that is bringing you into therapy, but to also gently explore how unresolved, or disconnected, parts of your past story may be contributing to current day struggles, as well. Knowing the truth of our stories can set us free to live from our truest, most authentic self.
I have specialized training in addressing trauma you may have experienced: trauma(s) with a capital T or a lowercase t. I utilize both Lifespan Integration and EMDR therapies to help address how our physical bodies, minds and soul hold onto trauma, and how, with support, can be helped to release this trauma, thus enabling you to live life more fully.
I also have specialized interest in the grief process, whether it's grief over the loss of a loved one, or a non-death loss (divorce, moving, health losses, job losses). We live in a grief-avoidant culture, yet loss and transition are at the core of many of our life experiences. Together we will explore, and help to put words to, how unexpressed grief may be impacting your life. It is an honor and a privilege to be with you in this process.
