Clinical Internship

We are excited to offer a unique and rewarding graduate internship experience here at Center for Solace. Our therapists are passionate about their specialty or population areas and have received advanced training and supervision to ensure they deliver the highest quality care. We are excited to share this passion, knowledge, and experience with therapists-in-training. Consequently, we believe the fresh perspective and inquisitive minds of new therapists provide opportunities for even our most seasoned therapists to see things through a fresh perspective.

PRACTICUM:

  • Practicum hours will consist of a slow build to approximately 4-5 clients, or 10 hours per week on site
  • Learn Electronic Medical Records system and client charting
  • Will complete various required trainings on HIPAA, Suicide Assessment, Telehealth Ethics etc.
  • Provide psychotherapy services to children, adolescents or adults
  • Initial intake and diagnostic assessments with clients will be done alongside a supervisor
  • Develop a unique treatment plan for each client
  • Client sessions will be video recorded and periodically reviewed with site supervisor
  • Will observe group therapy
  • Will attend weekly Site Supervision and Group Supervision
  • Other tasks as assigned to support learning

INTERNSHIP:

  • Internship will consist of approximately 10-12 clients per week, or 20 hours on site
  • Will conduct intake assessments with or without site supervisor
  • Client sessions will be video recorded and periodically reviewed with site supervisor
  • Gain proficiency in EMR use, charting client progress, development of treatment plans and thorough intake assessment summary and accurate diagnostic impressions
  • Maintain all documentation within the specified timeframes
  • Provide psychotherapy services to children, adolescents or adults
  • Conduct therapy sessions using different modalities (i.e., telehealth vs. in-person)
  • Develop a unique treatment plan for each client
  • Seek out additional training and supervision in clinical areas pertinent to client care
  • Will attend a formal training in an EBP agreed upon with Site Supervisor and determine best strategy for ongoing consultation of chosen model
  • Will co-lead a therapy group
  • Will attend weekly Site Supervision and Group Supervision
  • Other tasks as assigned to support learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dedicated to advanced learning in evidence-based practices
  • Excellent verbal, social and written communication skills
  • Emerging guiding theoretical orientation
  • Proficient use of counseling microskills
  • Attend supervision at least once per week
  • Technical skills: excel, word, EMR, telehealth

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE

  • This is an internship position and does not qualify for compensation
  • This position qualifies for an education stipend

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have not been a client, or a member of your immediate family was not a client, at the Center for Solace for at least one year as of the placement interview
  • Must be able to see clients during designated times coordinated with both office space and site supervision is available
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with clients, staff and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the Center.
