Eric has earned a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and a masters degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. He earned a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. He is licensed in the state of Washington as a Mental Health counselor.
Eric specializes in working with adolescents and adults who are unsure or distrustful about counseling, or struggle with anger, behavior problems or difficulty with relationships. He uses a Client-Centered theoretical approach within a cognitive framework aimed at helping clients build insight and bring about change in their lives.
He has received advanced training and experience in the following areas:
- Generalized Anxiety
- Adolescents with school troubles or refusal to attend school
- Behavioral Disorders
- Bipolar disorder (with prescriber support)
A Message from Eric
It can be hard to find the perfect counselor and that perfect fit. It can be hard to express pain frustrations and life struggles with someone you have just met. With that in mind, the most important thing is being able to your story and how, it affects you. Because, it is your story it is a part of you, and who, you are.
Keeping this in mind my approach to counseling is simple. Counseling is not something I do to clients. Counseling is a journey taken together finding answers and supports that speak to you, that will help you find balance in the world. Finding, your, voice.
In sessions, we will explore through your eyes what it means to make positive change. Finding solutions that best fit you. You will be able to notice change, because we will work to develop, skills that, will be used in your world to make change. The most important aspect of counseling is finding what best works for you the client and allowing your voice, to be, heard.
As a client when working with a counselor, you should feel safe and secure. Being able, to share your struggles, without fear or judgement. Working together in partnership to support your needs. My favorite type of client is one who is apprehensive of counseling at first and is willing to talk about it and work towards creating a good counseling relationship.
