A Message from Hilary

Have you been considering counseling for yourself or your child for some time, but hesitated due to fear of judgement or discomfort?  I strive to provide a warm, compassionate, and understanding approach to help my clients feel welcomed and accepted.  I like to begin therapy by developing a relationship of trust and comfort by allowing you to share your story at your own pace, as well as hearing your concerns and goals.  I work with my clients through an existential-humanistic approach, meaning that I hope to guide you toward finding meaning in your world and in your relationships by using the strengths and insights that you already have.  I hope to provide an individualized treatment plan, using the most recent evidence-based practices to help you meet your goals.  I have advanced trainings in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  Whether you are hoping to process and heal from past trauma, reduce symptoms of anxiety or depression, or help your child communicate and interact in more adaptive ways, I strive to use proven practices to help you reduce distress, and find more value and success in your life.  I hope to walk with you toward improved communication within your relationships, decreased symptoms that you may be currently facing, and more adaptive coping skills to help you face life’s challenges.  You are worth spending the time to begin feeling like the person that you hope to be, and I would be honored to support you through that journey.
